Another Abstract: What Will We Do?
Design seems so comfortably integrated with our evolving culture. It is not just associated with the designer anymore, but with the truck driver, the farmer, the mathematician. On a specific scale, as a solution to Mau's question, I offer the concept of social integrity and responsibility — in our web practices and in our lives.
In a time where communication is everything, all of our processes intertwine as if one entity. In a place where fresh ideas are hard to come by, resourcefulness is key in demonstrating how design is communication, not decoration.
Cameron Moll set an example in his article "Good Designers Redesign, Great Designers Realign", in which he argues that realigning a website — that is, managing what's already working — takes more thought, more talent, and essentially, more integrity than redesigning from scratch just to be flashy.
It's these kinds of ideas that inspire me to create something aware, intuitive, accesible, usable, and enticing for my BFA thesis project.
